The purpose of this Technical Note is to communicate to our surveyors, Shipowners/Operators that the Maritime Safety Administration of the People’s Republic of China decided to launch a nationwide special campaign to prevent ship mechanical and electrical equipment failures.
This special operation commenced on April 7, 2024, and end on October 31, 2024.
Foreign ships planning to enter ports of China and shall to perform maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment and investigate hidden dangers in advance.
If a ship prior to arrive to China Ports encounters a mechanical failure or electrical failure, should proactively report it to the MSA, and accept special safety inspection. Those who fail to proactively report such failures will be severely punished.
IMR Class encourages all Ship-owners /Operators, and surveyor, to review the standards for mechanical or electrical equipment in general to comply with the relevant conventions.
