IMR CLASS REQUIREMENTS OF APPROVAL SURVEYORS:
An exclusive surveyor is a person solely employed by International Maritime Register (Panama) Inc., who is duly qualified, trained and authorized to execute all duties and activities incumbent upon IMR, within his/her level of work responsibility.
The employment of IMR Class Surveyor will be limited to his approved location.
General qualifications for Head Office Technical Department and Field Surveyors (Entry Requirements).
IMR personnel performing and responsible for statutory work should have as a minimum the following formal education:
- Qualifications from a tertiary institution recognized by IMR within a relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum two-year programmed); or
- Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship officer
- Should have proficiency in the English language commensurate with the work
- Other personnel assisting in the performance of statutory work should have education, training and supervision commensurate with the tasks they are authorized to perform.
- IMR has implemented a documented system for qualification of personnel, training courses, practical tutored training and continuous updating of their knowledge as appropriate to the tasks they are authorized to undertake. It should provide documented evidence of satisfactory completion of the training.

SERVICES SUPPLIERS
The Services Suppliers provides technical services on behalf of the owner of a ship, in which the results are relevant to IMR surveyor in making decisions that affect the ships certification or classification.
These service suppliers are subjected to approval IMR Head Office based on our quality system. The approval is to ensure that the service provider company meets the relevant requirements in terms of qualification, quality, and delivery of the service provided.
- Firms engaged in thickness measurements on ships
- Firms engaged in tightness testing of closing appliances
- Firms carrying out in-water survey on ships and mobile offshore units by diver or remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV)
- Firms engaged in the examination of coating systems in accordance with IMO Resolution MSC.215(82) as amended and MSC.288(87) as amended.
- Firms engaged in the servicing and testing of radio communication equipment
- Firms engaged in annual performance testing of Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR)
- Firms engaged inspection and maintenance of Fire Extinguishing Equipment,
- Firms engaged inspection and maintenance of self-contained breathing apparatus.
- Firms engaged servicing of inflatable liferaft, inflatable lifejackets, hydrostatic release units, marine evacuation system.
- Firms engaged in maintenance, through examination, operational testing, overhaul and repair of lifeboats and rescue boats, launching appliances and release gear.
- Firms engaged in inspection, performance testing and maintenance of Automatic Identification System (AIS)
- Firms engaged in Commissioning Testing of Ballast Water management System (BWMS)
- Firms engaged in tonnage calculations
- Firms engaged in freeboard calculations
